MBA-CMA Program for Certified Management Accountants

Offered through Saint Mary’s University, the MBA-CMA Program was originally designed for individuals who were interested in completing both the CMA designation and MBA degree concurrently. However, due to a high level of interest from certified members who were considering an MBA, this program has been opened to certified members.

Attractive Work-Friendly Model

The applications-based MBA Program draws heavily on work experiences, creating excellent opportunities for professional dialogue. The Program is designed specifically for working individuals, using a combination of web-based, independent study and Friday/Saturday sessions. No evening classes to worry about!

As a CMA you will be required to complete 7 credits, or 14 courses, and two courses are normally completed per semester. Each course requires you to attend three full-day sessions. Since you are completing two courses per semester, one course is delivered over three Fridays and one course is delivered over three Saturdays. In total, you will attend 21 Friday/Saturday sessions over the duration of the program. This represents 3 weekends (6 days) of face-to-face instruction per semester.

Syllabus

The MBA Program contains three courses, focusing on contemporary management accounting issues. Topics in these three courses will be examined at the strategic, policy and implementation levels. Topics will include, for example, target costing, value chains, ABM, life cycle costing, principal and agency relationships, customer value analysis, EVA, balanced scorecard, as well as corporate reengineering, TQM, and strategic brand valuation.

Courses:

• Management Information Systems: Strategy and Practice
• Integrative Managerial Accounting I
• Integrative Managerial Accounting II
• Strategic Marketing
• Financial Management
• Strategic Management
• Strategic Design and Improvement of Operations

• Ethical Decision-Making
• Financial Reporting and Statement Analysis
• Taxation and Financial Planning
• International Business Management
• Investments & Portfolio Management
• International Business Finance and Banking

Additional electives will be added in the future. Not all electives will be available every semester.
