As leaders in the field of management accounting, Certified Management Accountants (CMAs) are
highly-skilled professionals, active in virtually every aspect of business operations.
CMAs are sought after by employers because they are more than “just accountants.” CMAs are educated in the
three pillars” of the designation: accounting, management and strategy.
|
As a result, CMAs are valued as well-balanced management
professionals who take accounting to the next level adding value to every aspect of the organization.
Established in Canada in 1920, CMA has over 40,000 members around the world. They provide strategic
direction, business management, and leadership for the private, public and not-for-profit sectors – with the
majority of members in senior-management and executive positions.
Certified Management Accountants do more than just measure value – they create it.
The CMA Canada Partnership
CMA Canada’s partnership structure consists of the CMA provincial, territorial and national jurisdictions
working together to achieve one unified vision: “CMA is the designation of choice.” Each jurisdiction exists
through a legislated act and is therefore self-regulating. Every partner is responsible for its respective
administrative policies and programs, and accordingly, all decisions or requests can be resolved only by the
specific jurisdiction.

CMA Canada
The role of the provincial/territorial partner
The provincial and territorial partners are, by legislation, the organizations that accredit certified
management accountants. The provincial and territorial partners directly communicate with the CMA membership
and are primarily responsible for recruiting new members, delivering accreditation and professional
development programs, conferring the CMA designation, and managing the disciplinary process.
